Core Accountabilities for Associate Apparel Designer:
- Technical design of men's apparel categories.
- Up-to-date maintenance of all technical documents, BOMs, and presentations for all categories.
- Adherence to all published calendar M&D dates.
- Preproduction comments and development support/follow-through for all categories.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Follow through on the Director's product direction and the brand's seasonal strategy.
- Design colorways for each style.
- Prepare pattern and art pitch sheets to send to vendors.
- Create and maintain accurate style presentation pages.
- Build technical design packages ready to send to vendors (Adobe Illustrator files, including but not limited to: sketches, detail callouts, branding, specs/measurements).
- Create style BOM information (input trim details, fabrications, color information, fit block, etc.).
- Work with the tech team on fitting comments, detail updates, and attend all fittings.
- Comment on factory-submitted samples, swatches, trims, and any other necessary developments.
- Communicate comments with the Developer/Merchandiser and/or factory directly.
- Present category developments/designs in management presentations as needed.
- Maintain current information on the server for all teams to access.
- Review and comment on catalog information (colorways, descriptive information, fits, etc.).
- Research competition via the internet and shopping trips.
- Travel as necessary, both internationally and domestically.
- Foster good working relationships with all departments to ensure the flow of information remains open.
- Wear multiple design hats and manage certain deadline pressures throughout the year.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of design team experience.
- Computer skills: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Must be self-motivated and deadline-driven.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a positive "can-do" attitude to ensure deadlines are met.
Location: This position is based in-office, minimum of 4 days per week, in Irvine, CA, and subject to change based on business needs.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $65,000-$70,000 annually. Salary is based on the experience that you bring to the position.
