THE PURPOSE:

As the Benefits Manager, you will be responsible for handling all activities related to company benefit programs including open enrollment, file maintenance, documentation preparation, and responding to all related questions. In addition, you will also be the main point of contact for Leaves of Absence and will handle both retail and corporate requests.

THE ROLE (what you are accountable for)

  • Serves as the first point of contact for questions, intake of leave requests, preparing and sending required notices, forms, and letters, and evaluating health certification information.
  • Ensures maintenance of accurate and complete LOA records, files, and reporting in accordance with company processes, policies, and procedures, as well as any applicable regulatory information.
  • Coordinates the company’s benefit programs, consulting with and advising employees on eligibility, amounts of coverage, and claims procedures.
  • Monitors and communicates employee benefit elections with insurance carriers.
  • Manages daily benefit processing. Handles enrollments, COBRA, 401k, and beneficiaries.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollment, status changes, and general inquiries.
  • Plans and coordinates Open Enrollment for multi-state employees.
  • Liaise with benefit brokers, insurance carriers, and other vendors to negotiate contracts, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Oversees the accuracy and integrity of benefits data, ensuring systems are updated and maintained effectively.
  • Develops a working knowledge of the HRIS and how it interfaces with various benefit carriers file integrations and transmissions.
  • Ensures applicable forms, processes, and policies are current and appropriate based upon requirements and changes to Federal or State laws.
  • Responsible for tracking all documentation, notifications, correspondence, and administration details accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Coordinates corporate events.
  • Responsible for managing and administering the Worker’s compensation program.
  • Manages safety policies and procedures, including COVID-19.

· Contributes to team effort by helping with Employee Relations issues, audits, and other HR inquiries.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • 7-10 years of experience in working with various benefits programs and leaves of absence.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees, management, and cross-functional partners.
  • Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong process, workflow, and audit skills with compliance focus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

College Degree.

  • Multi-state experience.
  • Experience with working for a retail organization.
