United Legwear is looking for a Director of Product to manage the kids category and will report to the VP of Merchandising. This Director of Product will be responsible for overseeing the product assortment, merchandising strategies, and sales performance across wholesale and retail channels. This position requires a deep understanding of market trends, customer preferences, and inventory management to drive profitability and brand growth. This strategic role involves cross-functional collaboration to ensure product assortments capture the essence of wholesale buying and planning standards while meeting commercial objectives.Essential Functions (Including but not limited to):

  • Assist the sourcing process to contribute to the commercialization and engineering of the product to meet design, vision, & company financial goal
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a high-performing merchandising team, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Report style costing for key meeting milestones: Assortment Review and Buy Meetings and additionally as requested by management.
  • Long & short term line planning
  • Analyze market trends and consumer insights to inform product development and assortment planning.
  • Create seasonal merchandising plans and product roadmaps for both wholesale and retail channels.
  • Partner with Sales and Planning to build seasonal assortments by channel to ensure target revenue goals are met
  • Determine pricing (MSRP and wholesale prices) and work cross-functionally to achieve target margins
  • Drive timelines to season to ensure deadlines and goals are met; responsible for timely, productive meetings from initial planning to post-season assessment.
  • Maintain an active knowledge of all information necessary for a successful product innovation process, including knowledge based on competitive and trend shopping, trend shows and seminars and market research activities
  • Monitor sales performance and analyze key metrics to assess the effectiveness of merchandising strategies.
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop initiatives that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Partner with Design and Production to exceed IMU goals and ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Provide as needed, ad hoc category analysis to support special projects and initiatives
  • Ensure all merchandising efforts are aligned with the brand’s vision and values.
  • Represent the brand at industry events, trade shows, and key account meetings

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in merchandising, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in managing 40% of product line management which consists of pricing strategies, product lifecycle, and inventory management/allocations.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth and profitability through effective merchandising strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
